MyAirbags Expert Tips

[tabbed_section][tab title="Tip 1" id="1530800794964-4"]When you get the module back from us it is as a new/good module and is free from all hard codes and soft codes. If the light is still on then there is a problem with one of the connections or a bad airbags, seat belts, clock spring and/or impact sensor and there would be a soft code stored in the module identifying the issue. Check that all SRS components and connections are good. Also, if you have purchased used parts then make sure that they were not from a FLOOD car.[/tab][tab title="Tip 2"]After you find the problem and it is solved the soft code may self-reset next time that you turn the ignition on. On most GM and TOYOTA vehicles the system will scan the system each time you turn the ignition on and if no faults found the light will turn off. On some cars, the system does not check itself when you turn the ignition key and will not know that the problem is fixed and you will need to clear the soft code with a scan tool or thru a manual process.[/tab][tab title="Tip 3"]After re-checking everything and you still do not know what the problem is then have the vehicle scanned by using a diagnostic scan tool.[/tab][tab title="Soft Codes"]If something is not properly connected (ground/short) or a bad airbag, seat belt, clock spring, OCCUPANCY SENSOR and/or impact sensor it will store a soft code in the system.[/tab][tab title="Seat Belt Tensioners & Buckles"]On most cars year 2000 and up, The cars are equipped with seat belts that deploy and buckles that retract at the time of an accident. These seat belts are the first to deploy. The airbags may be good because the car was not going fast enough to deploy the bags. But, the seat belts will deploy and lock up most of the time. Sometimes, the seat belts may seem fine and not locked. But, if the bags deployed then the seat belts have also deployed and need to be changed.[/tab][tab title="Fuses"]Vehicles that are equipped with airbags have fuses. Most of the Ford vehicles will burn the airbag fuse after the accident.[/tab][tab title="Clock Springs"]Most of the time when the driver airbag deploys it will melt the plastic airbag connector plugs.[/tab][/tabbed_section]
